La Rosa Del Monte

I have to say, I have never used a moving company before so I was a little hesitant at first when it came to hire one for our moving to Florida. But since members of my family have used them before I decided to take a leap of faith and hire La Rosa Del Monte. When you are turning your personal belongings into the hands of strangers, you become anxious. That was unneccesary. The staff in Puerto Rico was very professional, corteous, knowledgable, friendly and on time. They marked the boxes with a personal color and numbered tags. I did my own packing which it’s a risk since the insurance does not cover when they don’t pack but we were working with a budget and them doing the packing was over our estimate. But they liked the way we packed, so I relaxed a little

The estimated time to arrive here in Florida was between 5-6 weeks, so I was greatly surprised when they called me 2 days after I got here to let me know they were coming the next day. They showed up around 9:00 in the morning, again very professional. Everything was in perfect condition, no broken or lost boxes nor any damaged goods

With the car, the same thing. While I was unpacking, I got the call, so the next day I went to the hub in Orlando to get it. Once again the staff was very nice. The car arrived in the same condition I left it back in the island. No scratches or dirt

So instead of 5-6 weeks, I got everything under 3. Nice! I have to give credit were is due. And the staff at LRDM deserve to be recognized for the way they treated me and my belongings. If you plan to move, look no further. They are outstanding!

Home At Last

We arrived in Florida on April 9th around 6:30 in the morning after a long and very uncomfortable flight on Jetblue. I will never travel on that airline again. The plane was very small, packed to the brim and dark. We had to walk sideways to avoid hitting the people sitting at the aisles. Awful! Cheap but not worth it

Anyway, I was home, and that’s all that mattered at the moment. I was so happy to arrive that the plane thing was quickly “forgotten.” Coming out of the airport in Orlando I took a picture of the sun raising as a reminder of better things to come. Tampa looks prettier than before. Maybe it was because we were stuck in a mountain for so long, but everything looks bigger and brighter

We couldn’t get to the apartment until noon, so we stopped at IHOP for a nice breakfast and then went shopping for beds.  We arrived at noon at the apartments and the manager was waiting for us (they don’t open on Saturdays, but did an exception because we were coming from abroad, something very nice on their part). The apartment is really nice with 3/2, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and other goodies. I love it! It’s quite big for us, around 1200 sq feet of pure comfort. Now I have to make it mine with my own personal touch. Here are some pictures

I’m back home!! Praise God for His mercy and His help. Without Him, none of this was possible. He opened all the doors, even the smallest one to show us the way. Amen!

Sweet Home Florida – Part 4

The moving company came today to pick up the rest of my stuff. Now the house is empty except for the few things I will take with me on the plane. I feel so relief! I was worried because it has been raining since yesterday, but the sky cleared a bit while they were here. After they left, the heavens opened up and haven’t shut the faucet yet. It’s so cold and windy up here it does not feel like Spring at all!! Crazy

Now, the waiting game begins. 17 days and counting. I will not post here until I settle down in Florida. You can follow me on Facebook. See you later!!!

Sweet Home Florida – Part 3

Today, I took the car to the moving company hub here in the island. I had to get some paperwork done before the company could ship it, so I started my day really early. Among the things I needed was:

— An official stamp from the government stating that the car was clear of any speeding tickets

— A certificate that the car was not a stolen vehicle

— A permission to move the vehicle to another state

— A certificate from a car wash stating that the vehicle was clean inside out, under the hood and the chassis

Since tomorrow is a holiday, the DMV was deserted so I was out in 10 minutes ( usually it takes like an hour). It took longer at the car wash since it needed to be thoroughly clean

Now I will relax some. I was freaking out, thinking I could get into an accident and mess up in which case I couldn’t ship it until fix so these last days I was a mess, driving really slow, keeping my distance, being on the defense ( I must confess, I’m an aggressive driver… well,  just a little 😉 I’m so glad it’s over!!!

I miss the sucker already. The garage is so empty! It will be a month before we are reunited once again 😦
